A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s official major label debut album, The Bigger Artist, has finally arrived, boasting guest appearances from Kodak Black, Trey Songz, 21 Savage, Chris Brown & more. And while the XXL Freshman’s project is an all-around solid effort, the Metro Boomin produced “No Comparison” has emerged as an early favorite. Metro, who also helmed the project’s eighth track “Get To You,” can seemingly do no wrong in 2017. In fact, the Atlanta producer has been on a serious tear, delivering some magnificent work on Gucci Mane’s Droptopwop and even Nav’s Perfect Timing. His work here is no exception, and on “No Comparison” he provides A Boogie with a banger and a half.
A Boogie wastes little time in establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with, going in over Metro’s staccato synth strings. Unlike some of his fellow Freshman Classmates, A Boogie is able to navigate several styles of hip-hop, blending elements of “mumble rap” with enough lyricism and flow to please some of the purists. On this track, Boogie delivers two intense verses, and by the time the doubled voice enters the mix, he’s well and truly snapping. It’s a good look for the young rapper, and should serve as proof to the doubters that yes, a newcomer can still go in if provoked by the right instrumental.
