Lupe Fiasco recently revealed to fans that the project will not be released in 2017 anymore as originally planned. “Promise broken. No more albums this year. Spread the word,” Lupe revealed a couple weeks ago. So to make up for the unfortunate news, the Chicago rapper announced he’s taking his talents on the road later this year for a couple shows. “I’ll be doing a few concerts through the end of the year,” he wrote on Twitter. “So I’ll see some of y’all on the road.”
But before that goes down, Lupe decided to celebrate the fifth anniversary of his Food & Liquor 2 album on Monday by treating fans to a brand new song out of the blue called “Running From President,” which serves as his first release since’s May’s “Coulda Been.”
Bringing the title to life, Lupe hops on this Soundtrakk-produced beat and delivers a brief, lyrically stream-of-conscious record that finds him addressing Trump, Brexit, and the KKK in the process. “Flow is European Union, pizza like Brexit/ Was Restless, Me and chilling go together like Netflix,” Lupe effortlessly spits.
